Sucker for Samples

Like most people, I love a freebie. I don't quite go as far as buying the magazine for the giveaway but if somebody is giving something out and I don't have to part with any cash, I'm there in a shot.

I know I'm definitely not the only one to think this so thought I'd share a couple of secrets for bagging the best booty (please excuse the cheesy alliteration) and tell you what I think of my recents steals.

I walked into The Body Shop last week, looking for stocking fillers and happened to see an interesting promotion. If you took away a sample of a product of your choice, you got £3 off if you came back a purchased the full size. Everyone loves The Body Shop's lip and body butters and I happen to adore the smell of grapefruit. I'm not sure if it's a new flavour of theirs but I asked for a sample of the pink grapefruit lip butter (RRP £4). They then produce a typical lip balm-type size pot and proceed to half fill it with your desired sample. I have to say, I was quite surprised at the amount they gave me, to be honest, it was nearly as much as if you would buy it - and I got it for free!

This week, in a gap between lectures, myself and Elina had a wander round House of Fraser. I remembered that I had a coupon for Benefit that came from last month's Glamour magazine. It offered you a free sample of one of their new perfumes if you presented it at a Benefit counter. Realising I was probably a month late (which I was) but thought I'd give it a try anyway, I asked the sales assitant if it was still valid. To cut a long story short, she said they'd ran out but I thought I'd see if they had any other samples going. She ended up giving me a two-use sample of their new face scrub. It's called "Honey... Snap Out of It" and I have to say, it smells delicious. It retails at £19.50 and I really liked it. You apply it, leave it on for 10 minutes, scrub and then wash it off. The scrubbing beads are gentle enough not to be too harsh for your skin but there are enough of them for you not to have to scrub too hard to get results. It left my skin really soft and smooth.

I've got a couple of other beauty themed posts to come to I hope you like this new angle I'm trying out.
