I've been super busy the last couple of weeks and I have a feeling that it's only going to get busier. So admittedly, I haven't been updating my blog as much as I'd like.
First of all, it was my birthday on the 14th. I didn't do anything too excited but just went to Camden for cocktails with a few friends.
I started the internship last Thursday. I was only there for a couple of hours but I managed to cut out the pattern pieces to make up two lingerie sets for Loulou to sew. Working with silk and chiffon wasn't easy so I couldn't go as fast as I'd of liked, but I didn't want to rush it and have to re-cut everything again. It took me right back to memories of last year, endlessly cutting out patterns for the final collection. It was nice to get back into it but it wasn't quite the same without the fashion girls.
Today, I went to see some exhibitions as part of my course. The first was 'Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion' at the Barbican. This exhibition definitely cemented my thoughts that Japanese design really isn't my thing. I can apreciate the ingenuity and innovation of the construction, but as far as the style and look goes, I don't really like it.
The next two exhibitions were at Somerset House. 'Dior Illustrated: René Gruau and the Line of Beauty' was a display of Gruau's perfume and cosmetic illustrations for Dior. My favourite exhibiton by far. The images were really special: so elegant and classic.
The final exhibition was a display of images of Matthew Williamson and his collections. There were only a couple of rooms of photos but they truely showed the vibrancy of colour Williamson uses. He seems to exude the rainbow.

My Favourite Blogs
As I promised a couple of posts ago, I would tell you more about my favourite blogs so I decided to work my way down the list on the right side of my blog.
I'd like to start by saying that although I have a few favourites, I generally spend a lot of time combing the web (by jumping from blog to blog using their links) for hidden talents so I would encourage you to go forth click!
Here we go...
1) http://cupcakesandcashmere.com/
This one I like to think is quite similar to mine - a little bit of fashion, a little bit of baking, a little bit of beauty - so I like to see how she writes things. A very organised blog and a joy to browse for some inspiration.
2) http://www.fashiontoast.com/
The kind of person maybe I wish I was - cool, fashion-y, travels the world and always looks flawless in photos. A great insight into Rumi's exciting life.
3) http://floral-etiquette.blogspot.com/
One of my friend's blogs from university. Only just started blogging but I think her posts are fun and one to watch out for, maybe...
4) http://www.theglamourai.com/
I love the photo montages, tips and the posts she writes about her life.
5) http://fatfreeyoghurt.blogspot.com/
Another friend from university. I LOVE the name of her blog and I actually really like reading her posts. An ever so slightly kooky girl (meant in the loveliest way!) + a great ability to write about fashion = a winner for me.
6) http://sailorette.wordpress.com/
How could you not love Loulou? I'm doing a little "stalking" at the moment as she's my new employer so I'm reading anything and everything I can find on her.
7) http://www.mademoisellerobot.com/
Probably my all-time favourite. A heavy weight of the blogging world and the woman who inspired me to start my own.
8) http://nadinecitychic.blogspot.com/
One more friend from university. Nadine's big on beauty which is a subject I am probably lacking knowledge in so I love reading her beauty reviews and tips.
9) http://www.misspandora.fr/
A blog I read more to keep up with my French than anything else but the photos are amazing.
10) http://essleon.wordpress.com/
A fellow student from last year. He generally only blogs when he's finished a project but I like to keep up to date with what he's doing at college.
11) http://stylehurricane.blogspot.com/
Another blogging heavy weight. Talented, young, beautiful and writes a great blog - what's not to like?

Interview at Loulou Loves You
I've been following Mademoiselle Robot and Loulou Loves You for a while now and have to say they are two of my favourite blogs (more on favourite blogs coming soon!) so when I heard through Mademoiselle Robot's Facebook page, that Loulou Loves You needs an intern for six weeks in the run up to Christmas, I knew I wanted to go for it.
The job is so suited to me. She needs someone to do admin work (sending emails, visiting suppliers, packing boxes etc) but also someone to help out with pattern cutting and hand sewing 2 days a week. As well as the last two years of fashion design, I worked part time for a holiday company as an office assistent, basically doing all the things that Lou Lou needs. Could it be more made for me? It would also look great on my CV as one of my first fashion related work experiences.
To cut to the chase, I have an interview with her tomorrow afternoon, which I am very excited about!
Wish me luck!

Pimp my Poppy!
It's that time of year again when in aid of the Royal British Legion, we all wear a poppy to show our support (or maybe just to make a fashion statement?). I buy one every year but inspired by all the crystal, 'pimped up' poppies worn on TV (which seem to be in much more of an abundance than last year), I decided to have a go at personalising my own.
It didn't turn out too badly. Obviously not as professional as the ones seen on TV but then, mine cost less than £1.50 - including a donation of £1 - rather than upwards of £50.
I also read quite a good article on the poppies worn on the X Factor in the new national newspaper i. To read the article click here.
If you're feeling generous and would like to donate to the Royal British Legion, please click here.

Jack-o-Lantern
A bit late but thought I'd show you anyway. I didn't think I did too badly! My carving skills from childhood came flooding right back to me...
No costume photos unfortunately due to the fact that my Mum was visiting for Spain over the weekend so I stayed in and spent quality time with family on Halloween.
