The Christmas Post
With it being 364 days since last Christmas, it´s nearly time for the iminent arrival of the bearded man in the sleigh.

Let It Snow!
I've taken some time off between finishing college and my portfolio preparation and Christmas. I found myself exhausted after this past term and needed some rest before the arrival of Santa and his reindeer. The snow has come early this year and it really is beautiful to look outside and see the snow covered garden, it does help to get you into the festive mood.
So as promised, I am doing a Christmas gift blog - although it may be a little late. I would firstly like to advise that anyone in the London area goes to visit the world famous department store of Selfridges. It really is decorated amazingly and it's such a lovely experience to just walk around, try the free offerings (incl. chocolates and the most delicious tasting jelly beans from Jelly Belly - they make a really good stuffing filler!) and just take in the atmosphere. I was lucky enough to be allowed to pick out my present from my boyfriend and I chose a beautiful, tan-leather, Karen Millen handbag which I can't wait to unwrap on Christmas day!
For the man in your life, the kind of gifts I recommend are traditional ''naff'' presents but with a luxurious twist. How about Tommy Hilfiger Five Days a Week socks (available at ASOS)? - adding a bit of luxury to the working week and they come in a lovely box. Another suggestion is a cashmere jumper, yes it's a typical gift but if it's really good quality then he'll be thankful for it later. On a more creative level, how about tickets to a concert or football match? I find it really hard to by something for someone that I wouldn't want for myself but at the end of the day, it is for them and if that's what they want then it's better to get that than something you think is lovely.
Jewellery and watches are always a good present but how about personalising them? A friend of mine bought her soldier boyfriend some Gucci dog-tags and has got them engraved with his name and regiment number. For women, the classic Tiffany earrings are a classic and won't disappoint, subtle but with a hint of sparkle. However, women are easier to buy for than you think. All year round they hint about things that they like, and you only have to listen to find the perfect present. There's no need to make it more complicated for yourself than it need be. And you also don't need to trail round the shops all day. Department stores offer the widest range of items and you can spend even just half an hour finding something special.
And of course, if you really don't know what to get someone, there's always the trusty gift card to turn to. I love ASOS.com, they always have great suggestions for gifts and can also assist you in finding gifts that compliment each other. They cater for all budgets and have a great range of things to buy for women, men and children.
On a more obscure (but thrifty) note, how about making eadible gifts for your loved ones? I make biscuits everywhere and wrap them in festive coloured cellofame and ribbon with a personal gift tag. This is time consuming but people value gifts that have been homemade and are personal to them - rather than something generic. Whatever you do buy this year, if it's well wrapped, people will be happy to recieve it. It's always worth spending a little extra on wrapping paper, ribbons and gift tags, or maybe make your own. Last year's Christmas cards make great and more importantly, free gift tags.
So whether you are well prepared or going to be shopping last minute for your gifts, I wish everyone a very happy Christmas!
